2022 update on the status of the invasive European green crab in Washington State

In 2022 the proliferation of European green crab in Washington was declared an emergency by Governor Inslee. Neil Harrington will go over the biological and ecological implications of this invasive species and detail the fight to prevent their establishment with a focus on the North Olympic Peninsula.

A family friendly traveling exhibit exploring the vital worlds (of kelp forests) just off our shores. This is a combination 3D experience of a bull kelp forest and its creatures with 7 illustrated interpretive panels, video and sound.

Activities and docents provided on Fri- Sun, from 12-3 p.m. Holidays, staff availability and weather may alter these plans; go to ptmsc.org/visit-us to see the current schedule.

Suitable for all ages.
Admission is free.
Donations welcomed and appreciated.

We hope you will visit us at both of our locations (Fort Worden and 1001 Water Street).
As always, it’s a good idea to check the website for current hours, unanticipated closures or schedule changes due to the weather or Covid restrictions.

Here’s a quick look at what to expect:

WINTER HOURS
AT FORT WORDEN STATE PARK

The Aquarium is staying open on Saturdays and Sundays 12 - 4 p.m. through Dec. 18, then closing to public visitors until the spring warm-up. 

The Museum is open on Saturdays and Sundays 12 - 4 p.m.
The Museum will be closed to the public on December 24 - 25 and December 31 - January 1. 

Beginning in January, 2023, the Museum will be open through the winter on an "Admission by Donation" basis.

AT FLAGSHIP LANDING BUILDING
1001 Water St., downtown Port Townsend

Through Dec. 18, the Visitor Center & Store are open Friday, Saturday & Sunday,
11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 23:
open regular hours, 11 a.m. -5 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 24:  11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Closed Sunday, Dec. 25

Friday, Dec. 30:
open regular hours, 11 a.m. -5 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 31: 11 a.m. -3 p.m.
Closed Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023

Resume regular hours January 6.
