Dear Port Townsend Marine Science Center Community,
Our hearts and thoughts are with you and all the people you care about during these chaotic times. I want to thank you for so many inspiring moments over the last few weeks as we’ve received an outpouring of support from you, our community. While we physically isolate, know that we remain steadfast in our dedication to a healthier Salish Sea and to our community being stronger together now and into the future. To that end the Board and I are working continuously on a sustainability plan to weather this uncertain time and are committed to supporting and retaining our staff and AmeriCorps long-term. We are working together to have the Port Townsend Marine Science Center community emerge through this pandemic stronger and better than ever.
Even as we have closed the museum and aquarium and programs are suspended at least through April 30th, we are crafting plans to continue inspiring conservation of the Salish Sea including:
virtual tours through the aquarium,
a social-distancing-safe version of our BioBlitz for the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day,
and moving our annual auction online - look for more info on this in the coming days.
We will stay in touch regularly with uplifting stories and ideas about how we use this unique window of time to pivot us all in a more viable direction for our planet.
So while the Marine Science Center staff and AmeriCorps get their work stations functioning at home, know that we are inspired by each of you and your commitment to a healthier planet. We are with you.
On behalf of the Board and Staff, our deepest thanks and be well,
Janine Boire Executive Director
